Psychologist
Registered Provisional Psychologist at
Canadian Muslim Counselling
Calgary, Alberta
I approach therapy using a collaborative lens, I work together with my clients to establish their goals and help them build a life that is meaningful, rich, and full of love and connection. Being vulnerable and sharing some of the most intimate parts of one’s life is not easy, and therefore my goal is to create a safe space that is empathetic, supportive, and encouraging.
I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist in the province of Alberta. I have an MSc in Counselling Psychology and a BA (Honours) in Psychology both from the University of Calgary. I have training in and utilize a number of modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Acceptance, and Commitment Therapy, and Gottman Couples Therapy. I also have specialized training in perinatal and postpartum mental health.
I have been working within the Muslim community as a volunteer, student of knowledge, educator, and leader for over a decade. Being invested in my community inspired me to become a psychologist so that I could continue to give back. Recently, I’ve had a growing interest in the Muslim family unit, I am ever so passionate about perinatal and post-partum mental health, as well as couples counselling.
I work with clients to tackle a number of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, grief, phases of life concerns, self-esteem, relationships, family conflict, spirituality and/or cultural related concerns, and perinatal and post-partum mental health.
Therapy is your safe space to grow, heal, and become your best self. I believe that your past does not dictate the future and that every person is worthy of a whole-hearted and meaningful life filled with love and connection.
In my spare time, I love to try new food joints in my city, go on fun outdoor expeditions with family and friends, read, and enjoy a nice bubble tea. I also love to paint and have a keen interest in nutrition and creative writing as well.
