Alhamdulillah, I am deeply religious and have over 30 years of extensive counselling experience in improving the spiritual/psychological well-being of many muslims, immigrants, and families. I have extensive research and training in a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, trauma, adjustment challenges, grief, couples/relationship difficulties, marriage problems, family problems, work-related challenges, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, etc. I also have significant experience and success in helping people suffering from Jin-possession, Evil Eye, and Sehr.
Holding a PhD from England, I have a solid background in clinical practice, research, and publishing on depression and suicidality within diverse immigrant communities.
As a multilingual therapist, I am fluent in English, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and utilize culturally informed, evidence-based practices in my work. My approach is particularly tailored to meet the unique needs of Muslim and South Asian immigrant clients, understanding the cultural nuances and challenges they face. I have extensive experience and success in helping Muslim clients, faith-based clients, and South Asian immigrants navigate their unique mental health challenges in a North American context.
With extensive experience working with Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), Telehealth, and Family Therapy clients, I have developed a keen expertise in supporting immigrants and refugees with PTSD and other high-risk clients through phone counselling. My global experience, having lived and worked across Asia, Europe, and North America, enriches my understanding of diverse cultures and worldviews, allowing me to offer unique perspectives and tailored support. My work with Muslim and faith-based clients has been particularly impactful, as I integrate faith and cultural sensitivity into my therapeutic approach.
Publications and Research: My work is distinguished by over nine publications and a decades-long track record of effectively assisting individuals through various adversities and challenges. My commitment to culturally sensitive therapy and my ability to connect with clients from different backgrounds make me a standout therapist in the field. I am highly regarded for my ability to address the mental health needs of South Asian immigrants and Muslim communities, providing compassionate and effective support tailored to their specific cultural and religious contexts.
