Uzma strives to incorporate transparency, authenticity and humour into therapy and hopes to create a space that is marked by collaboration, compassion and safety. Her practice is bound by a feminist, anti-oppressive, anti-racist, harm reduction, trauma-informed framework; As a Canadian born, South Asian female, Uzma values the ways that structures and political categories such as race, class, gender and diaspora, intersect and shape our everyday lives.
Uzma uses a mix of modalities and psychotherapeutic approaches but specializes in Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Emotion Focused Therapy. She has experience supporting individuals, couples and families, facing challenges with anxiety, depression, anger, trauma, drug use, stress, as well as relationship, life and identity transitions.
Uzma works with a mix of people but specializes in supporting young adults from South Asian communities.
