Faiza is a Registered Social Worker who completed her Bachelor of Social Work from McMaster University and her Masters of Social Work from York University. She has a decade of experience in diverse areas of practice including Mental Health & Addictions, Domestic Violence, Child Welfare and Traumatic Brain Injury. Faiza has experience serving in various roles in both community-based mental health and outpatient hospital settings. She presently works as a Counsellor at University of Toronto Mississauga and previously worked at the Center for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) where she had been working with clients with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Depression and Anxiety.
Faiza specializes in providing individual therapy to adolescents and adults with Depression, Anxiety, Trauma and Grief utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotions Focused Therapy (EFT). She is also a certified Grief Informed Professional and trained in Adult Attachment Based Therapy.
Faiza takes a collaborative approach in her practice and values having strong therapeutic relationships with her clients embedded in warmth, empathy and understanding. Together, she will work with you on achieving your goals for therapy while fostering growth and wellness. Faiza’s goal as a therapist is to be your guide on your journey as you work towards an enriched and fulfilling life.
Faiza has also contributed to Canadian research on the topic of Gendered Islamophobia. She is passionate about raising awareness about Mental Health in the Muslim community and can provide spiritually integrated psychotherapy for clients seeking faith-based therapy.
