My goal is to support individuals who feel they are tangled up in life, and their past is interfering into their present. I am a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers with over 13 years of experience working with individuals, couples, families, children and youth. My training includes a Master of Social Work degree from University of Toronto, and I approach my work from a client-centered perspective, offering evidence-based therapy for a wide range of emotional and adjustment difficulties. My focus lies on trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and culturally competent practices that acknowledges our identities as Muslims.
When it comes to therapy, there is no “one size fits all” approach. Thus, I employ a holistic and eclectic approach using CBT, Narrative Therapy, DBT, family systems, and solution focused/brief modalities. I have honed my skills in developing goal-directed plans to address mental health concerns, improve family dynamic, and relational issues.
Furthermore, as a Higher Education professional, I have extensive experience working with young Muslims and their families cope with mental health challenges, disability related school issues, and transitions to colleges & universities.
