Irfan is a Registered Social Worker who graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master of Social Work, specializing in children and families. In addition to his role at Cedarway Therapy, Irfan works at the George Hull Centre for Children and Families, with children, youths, and families who are facing significant behavioural, emotional, and mental health difficulties. Irfan has a particular interest in helping children and youth in learning effective coping strategies to be able to healthy manage the various challenges they may be facing. Irfan ensures to work in a collaborative way that engages children and their caregivers in the therapeutic method that prioritizes connection and safety for the family system. Irfan’s practice with children includes giving families the necessary strategies and tools to increase positive functioning in the parent-child relationship.
Irfan has experience in working with children and youth from 0 – 24, with a focus on those struggling with emotional_disturbance, depression, anxiety, and who have attachment difficulties with their caregivers. Irfan also provides therapy with those who struggle with low self-esteem and self-harming behaviours.
Irfan has been trained in various modalities and their application to children and adolescents, including cognitive_behavioural_therapy_cbt,, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), dialectical_behavior_therapy_dbt,, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP). Irfan ensures his work is non-judgemental, collaborative, trauma_and_posttraumatic_stress_disorder_ptsd-informed, and attachment-based.
