Fatima focuses on improving relationships, educating about mental health and social issues, and organizing programs that address both individual and community concerns within and outside of the Muslim commmunity. She has limited office hours for clients seeking counseling.
Her dissertation research focused on improving our understanding of Muslim youth identity and the factors related to Muslim American youth engagement in risk behaviors. Fatima’s research was possible only because of the relationships she built with community leaders and community members of all ages. It is through such joint efforts that she believes that real, lasting change will happen in our community, and she is grateful for the support she received.
